CLASSIC & CITY MEETS

The Naperville Swim Conference provides two championship style meets. Swimmers can only participate in one of these meets each season (NOT BOTH) unless other arrangements have been made by the coaching staff. Each individual family will need to consider which of these meets is most appropriate for their swimmer. Below is some general information and guidelines about each meet.

Classic Meet @ Neuqua Valley High School (Saturday, July 19, 2025)

The Classic meet is designed for all 6&U swimmers and any swimmers ages 7-12 who do not have City qualifying times. View City qualifying times here. The 6&Us even get to compete in a free relay! This is a fun meet for competition as you get to see 10 teams together in one spot. Your swimmer will walk away feeling confident and strong because they will swim so fast. Huntington Estates will participate in the AM session at the 2025 Classic Meet.

City Meet @ Naperville Central High School (July 25-26, 2025)

The City meet is for ALL 13-14s, 15-18s (even if they do not have any City qualifying times), and any 7-8, 9-10, or 11-12 who has a City qualifying time. This is also a fun meet for competition as you get to see all 20 teams together in one spot.

Huntington Estates will participate in the following three sessions based on age groups at the 2025 City Meet.

  • Friday, July 25 - PM session for 15-18’s
  • Saturday, July 26 - AM session for 7-8’s & 9-10’s
  • Saturday, July 26th - PM session for 11-12’s & 13-14’s

Qualifying Times
Wondering if your swimmer has a
City qualifying time, the document “City Eligibility Report” is your place to find out. The shaded times mean your swimmer has not achieved the City time yet and white times mean your swimmer has met or swam faster than City times. White = City, Shaded = No City!

Number of Events

A noted difference between dual meets and championship style meets is that swimmers are only allowed to swim four events, including relays at these meets. For example, a swimmer may swim two individuals and two relays, or three individuals and one relay, or just three individuals. Also, each team is only allowed one relay, so the fastests swimmers will most likely be in the relays.

If a swimmer has two City times, then those would be the two events they would swim at City with the possibility of relays. If a swimmer only has one City time, then they can choose to swim at Classic or City. They just can’t swim that City event at Classic in an individual or that stroke in the relay.

There’s a lot to consider when it comes to understanding the differences between the Classic and City championship meets. Factors such as a swimmer’s age, qualifying times, and goals for the season all play an important role in determining which meet is the best fit. Each swimmer’s situation is unique, so we encourage families to reach out directly to the coaching staff with any specific questions about their athlete’s eligibility or placement. The HEST Coacing team is here to help guide you through the process and ensure every swimmer has a positive and successful championship experience.

Should you have any questions about City or Classic, please reach out to Coach Thad and/or Coach Sam.
