IT’S TRIATHLON TIME AT HEST!!

Calling all swimmers who love to run and ride their bike! This is an exciting opportunity we are excited to bring back to the Huntington Estates Swim Team members and families. On Friday June 27, we are transforming our pool, the path around the pond, and the sidewalks of the surrounding neighborhood into our official race track.

Each age group (outside of 5-6s) will have the opportunity to participate in this exciting event. Please sign up for this event just like you do for swim meets so we can plan for our races.

Thank you to True Potential Running, Alloy Personal Training, and Lululemon for sponsoring this event.

COURSE MAP: Swimming takes place in our pool and biking takes place along a short portion of the pond path, Naper Blvd., Culpepper Dr., Wehrli Rd, and Hobson Rd. Running will take place mostly on the pond path and through Wydown Ct.  All distances are in the  course map by age group (also see maps below).

Please view the Course Map for all the course distances and where your swimmers will be competing. The Top 3 Boy Finishers and Top 3 Girl Finishers from each race will receive a medal. Each 1st place Boy and 1st place Girl from every race will receive a Lululemon water bottle.

THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL DISTANCE TRIATHLON:
The distances are not accurate to what an actual triathlon would be. There will be a running clock but times do not qualify for any other races.

VOLUNTEERS: Thank you to those who are volunteering for the Triathlon. Bike Marshals will ensure that participants are following all safety requirements and staying on course for the bike portion. Run Marshals will ensure that participants are following all safety requirements and staying on course for the run portion. Snack table workers will work the post-race snack table and be asked to bring something for the table. I will reach out to the Snack Table Workers regarding those donations!

WHAT TO PACK: All participants must have: a pedaling bike, a buckled helmet, a pair of athletic shoes (no crocs), a swimsuit, and a towel. Other items to consider include a dri-fit t-shirt, water bottle, and sunglasses.

SAFETY: Safety is our number one concern and those who are not dressed appropriately will not be able to participate in this event. Swimming: all participants will start with a feet-first entry going 5 seconds apart in assigned lanes. Biking: all participants must wear a helmet and stay on the sidewalk while they ride. No wheelies or harmful maneuvers. Running: all participants must have athletic shoes to bike and run. In addition, we will have course marshals every 400 ft or so to ensure participants are following the safety and course rules. Participants will cross two non-busy roads but course marshals will be placed there.
