Assistant Coach Responsibilities
Daily Practice Duties
-
Take attendance and ensure all swimmers are accounted for.
-
Design warm-ups and training sets tailored to various skill levels.
-
Teach and demonstrate proper techniques for all strokes.
-
Incorporate engaging activities, such as games, to maintain swimmer interest.
-
Assess individual swimmer needs and provide constructive feedback.
-
Set up and clean up the pool area before and after practices.
-
Adapt to weather-related changes, including leading dryland activities if necessary.
Swim Meet Support
-
Arrive early to assist with pool and deck setup.
-
Lead warm-ups for designated age groups.
-
Organize swimmers in the bullpen and ensure they are ready for their events.
-
Provide encouragement and technical tips to swimmers before and after races.
-
Support volunteers and maintain a positive atmosphere throughout the meet.
Championship Meets
-
Participate in pre-meet activities, including team cheers and themed dress-ups.
-
Assist swimmers in reaching their designated heats and lanes.
-
Foster team spirit by engaging with swimmers and parents alike.
-
Ensure smooth operations by helping with logistics and coordination.
Additional Team Events
-
Attend team-building activities, such as after-practice parties and pasta dinners.

Participate in goal-setting meetings to help swimmers set and achieve personal objectives.

Contribute to a positive team environment by being an active and engaged member.

Qualifications

Minimum age of 15.
-
Swimming experience (preferably at the high school or club level) or prior coaching experience.

Availability throughout the summer season.
-
Ability to pass a drug test.
-
For those aged 15, possession of a valid worker’s permit.
-
First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain before the start date).
Commitment & Schedule
-
Full-Time Coaches: Approximately 30–50 hours per week, including daily practices and multiple meets.
-
Part-Time Coaches: Approximately 15 hours per week, including daily practices and one meet per week.
-
Mandatory Attendance: At least three dual or invitational meets to be eligible for championship participation.

Special Events: Attendance at events like New Swimmer Testing Day, Picture Day, and the End-of-Year Party is required for full-time coaches and optional for part-time coaches.
